What is coconut butter, exactly?
Coconut butter is whole coconut meat blended into a creamy spread. Unlike coconut oil (just the fat), it contains the full coconut — fiber, protein, natural sugars, and all. One ingredient. No additives.
Why does my jar separate?
That's a sign we haven't messed with it. Coconut butter naturally separates into oil on top and solids below. Just stir it with a warm knife or pop the jar in hot water for a minute before use.
How long does a jar last?
Unopened, up to 18 months on the shelf. Opened, about 6 months at room temperature. It rarely lasts that long in our house.
Do I need to refrigerate it?
Please don't! Refrigeration makes coconut butter rock-hard and nearly impossible to spoon. Keep it on the counter, out of direct sunlight.
Is it keto and vegan friendly?
Both. Every jar is vegan, keto-friendly, gluten-free, dairy-free, and made with zero refined sugar (our caramel uses coconut sugar, not cane).
Where do your coconuts come from?
We source from partner farms in Sri Lanka and Indonesia through a trusted cooperative. The supply chain is independently audited under GFSI, BRC Global Standards, GMP, ISO 22000, and HACCP. Mahalo Brands is working toward its own organic certification; in the meantime we share our supplier standards openly.
How is this different from almond or peanut butter?
Coconut butter is lower in protein but higher in healthy medium-chain fats (MCTs) and fiber. It has a smoother, more melt-in-your-mouth texture and a naturally sweeter flavor.
Do you ship internationally?
Right now, we ship throughout the U.S. and Canada. International shipping is on the roadmap — drop your email in the footer and we'll tell you the moment it's live.
Can I send a Mahalo jar as a gift?
Absolutely. Tick the 'This is a gift' box in your cart and add a recipient name, your name, and a personal message. We skip the prices on the packing slip so the recipient never sees what you paid, and we tuck your message in with the order so they'll know exactly who it's from.
What's your return policy?
Every jar is small-batch and made-to-order, so all sales are final — we don't accept flavor-preference returns. The one exception: if your order arrives with visible damage, file a claim within 14 days of delivery with a photo of the damaged box exterior and we'll replace or refund at our option. Do you offer wholesale pricing?
Yes — approved partners get 40% off MSRP on 6+ jar cases, mixed-case flexibility, net-30 terms, a free public stockist map listing, and first access to seasonal jars. Apply through the Wholesale page; we usually approve within 1–2 business days.
Where are you based?
Mahalo Brands LLC is based at 136 S Main St 2E, Saint Charles, MO 63301. Our kitchen, packing, and offices all run on 100% solar power — on-site arrays plus a fully renewable utility contract.
