The journey to Mahalo

We stripped away the noise.

Mahalo Brands began with a simple observation: the market was crowded with "natural" products that still relied on synthetic shortcuts. We wanted to strip away the noise and return to the basics.

Our journey started with a focus on the versatile coconut — a symbol of island life. What began as a conceptual exploration into the purest botanical ingredients has evolved into a broader mission: sourcing high-quality organic-grown ingredients to create a curated line of products that respect both your body and the planet.

Our core values

Three things we won't compromise on.

Sourced with integrity

We partner with growers who prioritize organic farming and sustainable harvesting. Every coconut in every jar is traceable to a farm we trust.

Transparency first

If it's in our product, it's on the label. No hidden fillers, no synthetic fragrances, no mystery flavors — just nature.

The spirit of Mahalo

'Mahalo' is more than a thank you — it's a way of living with gratitude and respect for the world around us. That philosophy guides every batch we produce.

where the coconuts come from —

Sri Lanka & Indonesia,
through a co-op we trust.

Every jar starts with coconuts sourced from a trusted cooperative. Since 2014, they've traveled and lived throughout South and Southeast Asia to source quality coconut ingredients — working directly with farmers on ethical, high-quality processes documented at every stage.

The farms we source from in Sri Lanka and Indonesia operate under recognized industry food-safety standards, with regular third-party audits at the supplier level. Community leaders work alongside the farmers on practices that hold up under that scrutiny. The short version: we know where every coconut comes from.

Mahalo Brands is currently working toward its own organic certification. Until that's granted, we describe our suppliers' standards and our sourcing process honestly, rather than make claims we haven't earned yet.

Our supplier's standards
Fair-pay cooperative partnerships
Farmers are paid above market under transparent, long-term cooperative agreements.
Independent food-safety audit

Certification in progress
Mahalo Brands is pursuing its own organic certification. We'll update this page the moment it's official.
The makers behind the brand

Hands in the Midwest,
hearts in the tropics.

Mahalo Brands is a small team of enthusiasts dedicated to island-inspired food, made carefully. Based in the heart of the Midwest, with our hearts in the tropics, we manage everything from technical infrastructure to product curation in-house — so the "Mahalo" standard is met at every touchpoint.

We design jars around umami — the rounded, savory depth that turns a spoonful into a finishing touch. Sweet flavors get the spotlight, but every blend is tuned so it can stir into a curry, glaze a roasted vegetable, or anchor a pan sauce without losing balance. Coconut butter has more range than a sweet spread; we just make sure ours shows it.

Sustainability

Smaller footprints,
bigger care.

We treat sustainability as a default, not a feature. Our ingredients come from farms that prioritize soil health and fair labor; our packaging is chosen for end-of-life, not shelf appeal; and every operational choice is weighed against the one a grandmother would approve of.

Renewable-energy powered

Every kilowatt-hour that runs our kitchen, packing, and offices comes from renewable sources — on-site solar arrays plus a fully renewable utility contract. The lights stay on with the sun (and the wind).

Recyclable, reusable jars

Glass jars with metal lids — both infinitely recyclable and easy to repurpose for pantry storage, overnight oats, or a little vase on the counter.

Plastic-free packaging

No bubble wrap, no foam, no shrink-wrap, no plastic fill. A recyclable cardboard box with the jars inside — that’s the whole shipment.

Small batches on purpose

Making less, more often, means less spoilage, less freight, and fresher jars in your pantry. Slow production is a sustainability tool.

Cooperative sourcing

Our coconuts come from farmer cooperatives paid above-market rates under long-term agreements that fund soil, schools, and clean water in growing communities.

Honest about progress

Sustainability isn't a finish line. Solar's done; next up is route optimization and plastic-free shipping labels. We'll say the moment we get there.

Powered by sunshine

We run on renewable energy.

Every jar we make is toasted, blended, and packed using electricity from renewable sources. On-site solar arrays carry the daily load and a fully renewable utility contract covers the rest — no fossil-fuel backup, no offsets dressed up as zero. Just light and wind, doing the work.

Our organic commitment

We don't just claim it.
We prove it.

Organic-sourced ingredients

High-quality, plant-based components from suppliers that prioritize organic farming — every label, every jar.

Small-batch quality

We focus on craft and consistency over mass-market speed. Texture varies; that is the point.

Island-inspired flavor

Flavor profiles built around the tropical pantry: coconut, citrus, vanilla, cacao, and warm spice.
